IBM i ERP and other popular apps in the IBM Cloud

To IBM Bluemix Brand Owner:

I do not understand why IBM is not offering clients the option of spinning up a JDE or other IBM i application instances. Because you can afford the processor based pricing offered by most vendors on a powerful enough IBM Power System to make it feasible, you could design your IBM i Application Portfolio front end in such a way that clients could choose the app (JDE, BCPS, Trusted Link, SAP…), then upload or delivery their current app’s customization and data to the new instance. (There is one big issue, User Profiles are limited to 10 characters and they must be unique.) But the idea is this; instead of each client having their own LPAR, their instances would be cloaked behind the old library list system that allowed enterprises to run multiple version and instances of IBM i apps before the LPAR options were available. Client’s would be billed based on actual hours of usage, or possibly prepay for hours at a discount. And be allowed to sell unused prepaid hours through IBM if there are other clients available to purchase them.

And about one big issue, I am sure the IBM i and or IBM Power System engineering team can come up with a modification to add a unique App Instance prefix to User Profiles (and other objects if needed) in this Blue Mix, IBM i Application Portfolio Best of Breed cloud option for NEW and existing IBM i application clients.

    IBM i and AIX IaaS is now live in the cloud catalog. As that evolves the strategy to offer additional "as a Service" offerings up the stack becomes more realistic.
