Allow only some users to access data

At least two customers have asked me whether they can assign devices to users in the Watson IoT UI, in the same way that we assign users different roles. This is needed for large organisations that want to assign devices to user accounts, such as for vehicle rental companies.

We do plan to extend the roles and resource based access control in the Watson IoT Platform to enable sets of devices to be managed by subsets of users in the future.

please could you clarify if "user account" refers to an operator/administrator in the vehicle rental company or to the end consumer (who would be renting the vehicle in the described scenario)

In this case, "User Account" would refer to an operator / administrator. However, I believe that there is a valid use case for either scenario.
